more bridal boudoir

October 27th, 2006

This is indeed the year for bridal boudoir!  I haven’t posted much on the blog because most was done on the wedding day, and I don’t want to post boudoir around the time the families are going to be swamping my blog… so I have tried to post a couple sessions that were done well before the wedding day.  Kim is getting married in April, but has some super hot shots for her fiance in the mean time.

While it is true that I have a good amount of experience with models, the images I circulate via the blog or email that I call bridal boudoir are all done with brides (either mine or Alisha’s).  The women are indeed stunning, so I’m sure they look like models, but if they didn’t look stunning then you wouldn’t think you were at my blog! ;)

pumpkin patch

October 24th, 2006

This week I had the distinct pleasure of going along with Alisha on her annual trip to the pumpkin patch with Lillie.  Little Lillie is so cute, and getting to tote her around in the wagon and watch her play all afternoon really was incredible.  Kids are pretty amazing, but I’ve found spending an extended amount of time with a single child has really seemed to confirm this principle.  Getting to know Lillie has been a real pleasure, and made it even more meaningful when watching her and Alisha run wild all over the pumpkin patch.  We all enjoyed our first little taste of Halloween together…. me, Alisha, and the little lion.

Cavs and Raptors

October 20th, 2006

On Wednesday Brady Dillsworth and I went to check out an NBA game when the Raptors played the Cavs.  I wanted to watch the next basketball great LeBron James in person since I think he is worthy of all the hype, but unfortunately he didn’t play :(  It’s a great example of why I think the NFL, a league in which every week is life or death, is a much more attractive and popular league.  Regardless of LeBron not playing, we still had a great time though.  Basketball is one of those sports that’s fun to watch on TV, but you can’t really appreciate how athletic, fast, and how high these guys can jump until you stand courtside.  We saw a couple pretty amazing plays, and it was a good chance for us to take a couple minutes and just hang outside of business.

Afterwards we went back to Brady’s pad to hang out for a while, discuss some business, and laugh the night away.  I have to say, while Brady is a good friend, he impresses the heck out of me at such an early stage in business.  I definitely think Brady is going to continue to make huge waves the longer he is in business.  I know he has a new site coming out soon, so check his blog for the update.

thank you Alisha

October 19th, 2006

Last weekend I had Alisha, once again, come and shoot with me.  This has been the single biggest year of growth for my business, and without a doubt I would not have been able to handle it as smoothly if Alisha and I didn’t finally give in to our attraction to each other in February.  We fought it off by casually flirting with each other since the day we met in 2005, but finally we starting dating earlier this year and as a result have become involved in each other’s businesses (naturally).  We both want to keep everything seperate from each other, but obviously both being in the same profession we try and help each other out as much as we can.  We have shot together numerous times this year, and I know she has wowed every person that has met her.  She has given a lot to me and to the business over the past 8 months, and has really helped my transition to a bigger business tremendously.  Without a doubt I will need to hire a studio manager next year, and will probably even have another studio location to meet the needs of my growing down-state client base.  I probably would have been forced to do one of these this year if not for Alisha.  So thank you Alisha for helping me out so much this year, and also for helping give extra value by showing up at several weddings. :)
PS – I took this image this past weekend while we were both at our gear bags

congrats to Stacey and Trevor

October 17th, 2006

This past weekend Alisha and I had the honor of hanging out with Stacey and Trevor and all of their friends.  It started off Friday afternoon as Stacey had us come out for some fun sessions before the rehearsal dinner (more boudoir of course!).  We had the chance to hang with her most of the day Friday, and then with all of their clan Friday night.  Stacey got us a hotel on Friday night and we were back with the girls Saturday morning at the Salon.  I felt like by the time the ceremony began Saturday evening we were closer to guests than actual "photographers."  The events of the weekend went off perfectly, with everyone having an absolute blast (talk about party), and Alisha and I were happy to have had the chance to meet so many cool people and have so much fun.  I could probably make a blog post of about 40 images because of everything going on, but here is a sampling of around 20 (so I don’t completely take everything else off the front page!)….

SPOSA Magazine

October 16th, 2006

I am proud to share with everyone that I have several featured images in the latest issue of SPOSA Magazine.  SPOSA is a magazine that I was turned on to over a year ago, and I jived with their magazine from the first issue I saw.  They have a respect and admiration for great photography, and that is something very important to me when deciding what magazines to submit editorial work to (I wonder why?!).

With that said I really am proud to have my work featured several times throughout the latest issue.  I had my work featured in magazines earlier in my career that I was not proud of (like the American Bridal Guide), but have decided only to submit to magazines that I wanted a working relationship with.  SPOSA is obviously one, and Wedding Style is the next magazine that will use my work for editorial.

Pick up the latest issue of SPOSA to check out some of the images, and you can also find me listed on their website now as well.

congrats to Stephanie and Leo

October 11th, 2006

Big time congratulations to one of my favorite couples of the year, Steph and Leo.  I had the pleasure of shooting them last Thursday (see below) and then seeing them Friday night and all day Saturday.  They are one of the coolest couples I’ve ever had and I sincerely enjoyed spending time with them and talking with Steph on the phone so much.  The weather worked out well, the temperature was perfect, Leo looked great and Stephanie looked absolutely stunning.  Need I say more?
PS – Thanks again to TJ for being there, I was humbled being side by side with him all weekend.

TJ Cameron joined me this weekend for two weddings, and we had a blast!  We are back shooting again, out of town this week, but I am making some quick posts anyway (the blog must go on!).  Nadine and Mark’s images are up first since they happened to still be on my desktop from the reception slideshow.  Thanks so much you two and congratulations again!
PS – check out TJ’s blog since I stole some of his images!

e-shoot with Stephanie and Leo

October 6th, 2006

I had the opportunity to get together with Stephanie and Leo for a great e-shoot yesterday.  Because they are one of my many couples who don’t actually live in NY we had to do it this week (the week of the wedding) since we knew they’d actually be in Upstate :)  We had originally selected Tuesday as our shoot date, but the weather was awful.  Our schedules were crazy hectic this week though, so we were a little hesitant on rescheduling it…. but we decided it was worth the risk.  I think we all said several times yesterday how glad we were that we decided to take our chance, the weather was absolutely beautiful and we were able to get great shots all afternoon.

Thanks so much for a great afternoon together you two, and I’ll see you tonight at the hotel!

Elegance by Jo

October 5th, 2006

The more I talk with brides about my blog, the more I hear how much they visit it for ideas and/or information, and not just to see my latest images (craziness I know).  So with this in mind I have tried to gear it a little more towards posting links and recommendations whenever I can.  We all know this area is not flooded with planners to say the least, and it’s hard to find a good third party planner, so I thought I’d mention a high quality person for you to check out if you are looking.  Jo Kowalewski from Elegance by Jo is a higher end planner in the Upstate NY area, and who has done some killer weddings.  I know she can also provide reception decor as well if you are looking to do your reception up right.  You can get a hold of Jo at 315.457.0350 or through elegance@dreamscape.com.  Here is a link to a wedding we did together earlier in the year.
