congrats to Gretchen and MikeApril 27th, 2008

I had the pleasure of going out to the Finger Lakes yesterday for Mike and Gretchen’s wedding at one of my favorite locations – The Aurora Inn. The drive over there in the early afternoon with the sun out and beautiful scenery is not to be missed. It’s one of the few places in Upstate NY that I’m actually going to push Alisha to look at once it’s time to plan our own wedding. Anyway, we really lucked out with such a gorgeous morning and then the weather held out just long enough for us to grab some portraits before Mother Nature took over.

boudoir shootApril 25th, 2008
I had the pleasure of shooting several boudoir sessions recently with Alisha, and as usual we had a blast. They are great to shoot, and it’s always funny to watch the people being photographed go from shy and nervous to fun and out-going throughout the shoot. I’m glad Alisha and I have the ability to create that vibe between us, and I think as a team we’re 10 times more effective at this then we could ever be by ourselves. Anyway, thanks for checking these beautiful ladies out! |

Jim HjelmApril 24th, 2008
If you would have asked me several years ago about the Jim Hjelm bridal line, I would have had no clue what you were talking about. That has changed over the last 2 years though, especially after seeing several of their runway shows now. Their line is a little more economic (usually in the 2-3.5k range) than some of the other recent designers I’ve posted, but I still really like some of their dresses. This one in particular was the one that forced me to include them on my blog… Here are a couple other honorable mentions…

Carolina Herrera showApril 23rd, 2008
Another show that I shot for The Knot that I was impressed with was the Carolina Herrera show Monday morning. For some reason Carolina’s shows are traditionally some of the worst in terms of actual shooting since they are usually at her showroom with little space and no lights. This year she had it at a gorgeous NY hotel though, so we thought we’d finally get a location and some lighting that did her designs justice. Well, we showed up and they had absolutely no lighting at all. And when I say no lighting, I mean not even a 60 watt light bulb in the ceiling. Even though this was the case, Carolina’s designs define class and elegance so I always want to post her stuff… |

Oscar De La RentaApril 22nd, 2008
Sorry for the delay in the blogging, but we shot a ton of events recently and due to travel circumstances Alisha had my boudoir files and The Knot had my hard drive full of shows. We’re back and ready to catch up on some blogging! Oscar De La Renta’s show was my favorite this Market. His designs were gorgeous, and I saw that from even behind the camera (sometimes it’s tough to pay full attention to the designs and shoot at the same time). Then as soon as the show ended the crowd erupted and even the photographer pit was yelling "Bravo!" as Oscar stood up and waved to everyone. Beautiful dresses that could fit all sorts of brides and weddings below, but these were just some of my favs. The first one is to die for, I could see Alisha wearing that if we had a more formal wedding than what we currently have planned -

Monday night party to end the funApril 17th, 2008

One of the things I love about shooting the different Fashion Weeks (Market in April and October and Fashion Week in Feb) is that I get to see so many of my friends from around the country for several days. There are numerous get togethers just about every night, so this time around we decided to have something extremely casual at the studio for some of our favorite people. myself with Jason Groupp and Mike Colon Alisha and our good friend Rebecca Crumley, the real weddings editor at The Knot Ray Santana, Brian Phillips, Jared and Kristin Spencer, and of course the ham Jason along with Alisha and Brian "the man" Dorsey Ray and Alisha pose with my fellow Red head Jen Davis I’ll have some more from Bridal Market as soon as I get my hard drive back from The Knot (in the next couple days).

Ray Santana and Mike Colon stealing my shotsApril 14th, 2008
Last night I was at the Jenny Packham showing with my editors from The Knot and ran into my good friends Mike Colon and Ray Santana. One of the models was giving Mike lip… I think he’s challenging her isn’t he? Can you believe they were swiping my shots??! Just kidding of course. We had fun teasing each other and filming one another. Ray and the awesome ladies from Wedding Style

Charleston WeddingsApril 12th, 2008
Speaking of runway and Market Week, I just picked up the latest issue of Charleston Weddings straight off the rack and in it you will find a 6 page fashion spread featuring my work. Shooting fashion and going to the cocktail parties and always meeting new people creates these new relationships which continues to get me and my work published on a more regular basis. I’ll have some more ammo here on the blog throughout the weekend and next week so definitely check in. |
