I’m extremely excited to be making this blog post. I have been looking forward to this wedding for the past year, and everything about it was all that I had hoped. We met Farnaz initially because she was a bridesmaid at Nicole and Scott’s wedding back in May of 2007. I’ve started photographing the weddings of that circle, which has been awesome getting to know everyone and making some good friends, and when Farnaz called it wasn’t a huge surprise. It was, however, a surprise when she said she wanted to bring us out to Hawaii. Giddy up!
So off to Hawaii we went in early March for a week, and out went myself, Alisha, and Chris (doing the videography). The hotel we stayed at was the same hotel as Meghan (my bride from Dec. 08) and Nicole (from May 07) so it was even better because we had breakfast together in the morning, hit the beach up together, etc. The entire week was filled with fun activities and gatherings, which I will follow up with pictures of later, but we also scheduled in some relaxation time as well.
Before I post some of the pictures though I just want to say thank you again to Farnaz and Jeff for bringing us out to Hawaii to share this experience with them. It was an absolutely incredible week and we feel very fortunate to have been involved. I also want to thank Alisha and Chris for doing a kick ass job with me all week. Some of the photos you see below are actually ones Alisha took, her work continues to amaze me each and every time we have the chance to shoot together. Now… for the pics :)

Farnaz looked incredible

The finished product… tah dah!

It started to sprinkle a bit during portraits, but this crowd always looks good!

When the bride and groom are willing to see each other before the ceremony I’m always game… and in this case it really helped them get the shots they were looking for since the sun dropped so fast after the ceremony.

One of my favorite shots of 2009 so far…

The orchid runway they had set up was gorgeous

You know you get to work with a cool couple when they are dancing in the middle of a field at twilight so you can get this shot

The red velvet cupcake set up was yummy! As a side note… because there was so much food and then chocolate lava cake for dinner they served these at the farewell brunch too. Anyone who serves cupcakes for breakfast is my hero.

The reception and dancing room looked very elegant

As you would expect from this crowd, we had some great toasts

I love how romantic this last shot is!

Thanks for checking out the blog post and something tells me this will get us some traffic :) I’ll be gone this week photographing Bridal Market Week for The Knot.

Great job Luke and Alisha! I’m loving the little extra post-production I am seeing in some of your images lately.

Tough break having to shoot a wedding in Hawii. I really feel for you there, seriously what a terrible place to shoot especially in March. Haha, great shots Luke.

Absolutely magnificent. I’ve never heard of an orchid aisle… so unique and so amazing. The picture of them standing on the rocks kissing (below the dancing at dusk stunner) is so heartwarming to me. It has the feel of the Kim Anderson photos that always tend to catch my eye. Simply Amazing.
