eshoot with Laura + AJ

September 30th, 2009

After some scheduling conflicts for us, I was able to meet up with Laura and AJ in downtown Albany near their old stopping grounds. I love shooting in that area because there is such a variety of options to use. I have a great park, a sweet garden, old brownstones, and then some of the Albany landmarks. Plus that part of the city gets that direct sunset light that looks so sweet for an engagement shoot. Ok ok the fact that Ben and Jerry’s is in the neighborhood doesn’t hurt either.

Great backgrounds for us to use down there

After walking around for a little bit we were able to find the money light

It’s funny watching people go from “being photographed is going to be awkward” to “damn spending a beautiful evening snuggling with my hot fiance ain’t so bad!”

Laura had to slip into something a little more sexy for some of our twilight shots

The shot of the left is my favorite of the session, absolutely love it. I love how it says “Albany” with the egg and plaza in the background and I love the twilight feel of the image.

Thanks so much for a great evening you two!

Dina + Mike

September 29th, 2009

Dina and Mike… I want to first off thank you both for having me at your wedding. I had a blast working with you both.

From the start of the day I knew it was going to be awesome shoot. Great light, great people, good music all day. In Fact, Dina herself struck me as the type of person who loves music. Therefore, I figured I would change it up a bit and get a little crazy with the music. So here is the long awaited trailer for those of you who have been blog stalkin the the photos by Luke.

Congrats to Kavi and Justin

September 27th, 2009

You will probably remember Kavi and Justin from their recent engagement blog post HERE

In addition to having a great shoot with them just 6 days before their wedding, I also knew I was going to be working with my favorite wedding planners Rose Events. I’ve been working with Rose Events for almost 5 years now (where does the time go?!) and it’s always a pleasure. On top of that weather.com was telling me we were going to get some beautiful weather and a nice sunset. As if all of that wasn’t enough, I was able to talk my best friend Jason Groupp into coming and shooting with me. Yes this is the same Jason Groupp (the one, the only?) who photographed our wedding in June.

This year has been by far our best ever and we’ve been incredibly busy… but as you could have guessed I was really amped about driving down for Kavi and Justin’s wedding. Let’s get to the photos!
Untitled-dgfff1
Kavi has a very natural and beautiful smile which makes her really easy to photograph
IMG_7575
Usually a first meeting and some portraits outside at 1pm without a cloud in the sky is a SCARY situation for a photographer. I had Jason with me though so between us and our toys I knew we’d be able to knock it out of the park

2 things I’ve never seen at a Baraat… bagpipes and the horseride replaced by a ride in an Aston Martin

Justin and the guys know how it’s done

The lighting was tough for the ceremony, but it’s all about making beautiful images no matter what

Of course a lot of that has to do with Kavi and Justin’s smiles

The shot on the left is my favorite of the day

I knew we’d have a beautiful reception set up with Rose in charge, once again living up to the billing

I had to bring them outside for a couple night shots with the video light before the end of the night too :)

  3. Ruchir:

    Luke,

You are a superstar !! What awesome pics you’ve taken! It was an ultra sun shiny day indeed, and i know how difficult that can be on a photographer, but not for one minute was i ever worried knowing that you were on site clickin away.. Great shots and i can’t wait to see more!
I’m sure our lovely and always full of smiles bride and groom are exceptionally thrilled with the results. I wanna make some these into huge posters and put em up all over town ! Kidding..

my father’s toast

September 23rd, 2009

We are finally putting together our OWN wedding DVD :) Bout time right?! I had to post my father’s speech which I thought was great:

It’s EXACTLY the way a speech at a wedding should be done. Well thought out, concise, and most importantly – from the heart and spoken with class. Bravo to my father and to my best man.

First, I would like to show you the lovely wedding of Leah + Peter! A couple referred to me by connections via Lillie’s school (Taylor School)! Small world but I was lucky enough to photograph their wedding at the Inn @ Erlowest a few weeks ago.

Here is a picture from the Rehearsal Dinner on Lake George with Lillie’s classmate, Justin (they even share the same birthday of Nov 25!!)

Katie + Jeff

September 21st, 2009

Nothing like rocking Vermont on a chilly afternoon in AUGUST! Not sure what was going on with the weather that day, but Katie + Jeff sure made the best of it! We had a rockin good time just hanging out and getting ready that morning. And by the end of the night…WOW they sure know how to party.

However, even though this might have been Katie and Jeff’s day, their dog Arther stole the show during our portraits session. It was definitely a crazy fun day with the dancing socks, leaping dogs, and little jump rope fun.

Enjoy.

congrats to Dina + Mike at the Canfield Casino

September 16th, 2009

Recently I had the chance to photograph Dina and Mike’s wedding up at the Canfield Casino in Saratoga Springs. You might remember these 2 from our e-shoot in NYC HERE
lwm38636
I’ve had a great time getting to know them both and had a fantastic time with them at the wedding. As soon as I arrived in the morning Dina’s family treated me like family
IMG_9706
Literally I’m asked a handful of times per month how I get such beautiful brides… I have no idea but the streak continues!
Untitled-1dsfga
I love a little morning toast
IMG_9996
Even though the ceremony was pretty long, I honestly enjoyed it more than most church ceremonies because Dina and Mike gave me great expressions
IMG_0167
Plus the window right above their heads gave me some wicked light!

IMG_0194
I love Mike’s expression on the left and Dina’s on the right so I had to include them both

What’s that you say? It’s Mooo… huh? Moooo… what? Oh Money time! Gotcha :)

As much as I love the backlite shots and using our reflector/diffuser, I also love standing really close to a nice brick building with that late day light banking right off the huge walls
IMG_0494
I had to try to sneak in a patented relaxed bridal party shot before the light disappeared
IMG_0449
I really liked the more photojournalistic one though too honestly…
IMG_0411
The reception room looked beautiful (wait until you see the video with the flare coming through the windows…)

A little video light and some night shots to finish up an awesome wedding

Props to Chris for rocking the house with the video, to Matt Antonino for shooting with me once again, and to Dina and Mike for having us!

  1. Dina & Mike:

Luke, Chris and Matt- we arrived back home from our Italy honeymoon last evening. We eagerly checked out your website/blog (just in case) and wow did you guys deliver! We both were so excited to check out the images that you included and we cannot wait to check out the rest of the photography as well as the video.
The evening went by far too quickly- wish that we could have stopped time! However, we both felt so lucky to have been able to work with each of you and to have been blessed with such a beautiful day full of family and friends. Truly an amazing experience to have all of your loved ones in the very same room and to have such a talented team vividly capture the most special and anticipated day of our lives. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

    You’ve got skillz’….forever grateful!

congrats to Robyn + Hanif

September 14th, 2009

Time to start catching up on all of the weddings I’ve been shooting! Today comes Robyn and Hanif’s wedding up in Lake Placid. I knew this wedding was going to be special when Cindy Byno called and told me about it, and asked me if I was available to photograph it. We all met up in Lake Placid, did an engagement shoot in the snow, and had an awesome day together. That always makes me excited to see what feels like old friends on the wedding day :)
wweeee
Only at a wedding does it take a team of people to get a person dressed… but it makes for great photos

This little girl was a showstopper coming down the aisle

Whenever I work with a couple, it always make my job easier if they can bring emotion out in each other. Whether that means making each other laugh or cry (or things in between and outside the realm of description) it doesn’t really matter… and it’s a beautiful thing to watch
IMG_4313
Hanif was certainly proud of his beautiful bride
IMG_4327
I love finding random fields with big beautiful barns next to them… shooting in Upstate NY rocks!

Hanif is all class, the kind of guy that you meet and immediately respect because he’s a good guy and you know it as soon as you shake his hand. Full of love and extremely sincere, and his speech towards the end of the reception showed that

Thanks so much to Cindy Byno of NorthWood Events for referring me and it was a pleasure working together!

congrats to Jessica + Chris

September 13th, 2009

Up to Croghan, NY we go! Nothing like bringing it back to the camp grounds. Jessica + Chris showed me a good time with nothing more than friends and family. More importantly how laid back they were the entire day. I had a great time and enjoyed myself as if I was one of the guest myself.

Congrats you two.

-Chris
