Happy Halloween!

October 30th, 2009

Even though we are all out of town, I couldn’t let Halloween go by without leaving you a festive blog post!  Last year you might remember Lillie was a pirate.  It was pretty cool and she had fun as she was going through a pirate phase at school wanting to be like the boys, or at least play with them.  She looked pretty cute we thought:

IMG_1665

This year though she took the cake with creativity. We asked her what she wanted to be and she immediately replied “a banana!!!!” Ok then…. I have to give her props for coming up with something totally different :)
IMG_9815
It’s especially appropriate since she’s on a mostly organic diet too. Her friends at school kept trying to eat her.
IMG_9799
We also went on a field trip together and she was given a pumpkin to take home. How exciting! We had to carve a face in it of course, even if it was a mini pumpkin.
IMG_9690
She thought it was pretty cool when I poked out his eye
IMG_9687
She wanted to feed Mommy the pumpkin seeds (geez I wonder where she gets her joker side from)
IMG_9733
Just like me though, she doesn’t like getting joked on back

I’ll leave everyone with this video from class today. You can’t beat this:

New York Bridal Market video

October 27th, 2009

Another Bridal Fashion Week (officially known as Bridal Market) is over. I’m sad to see it go on one hand, but sleeping in my own bed and back to dealing with my own clients makes me less sad :) I did have this little video summary put together that I’m stoked to share with you. Thanks again to The Knot for having so much trust and faith in the skills of Clark+Walker Studio. You’ll see pictures in there of me with Heather Levine, the fashion editor of The Knot who has also become a reliable friend. In addition there are pictures of us with Grace Ormonde of Wedding Style Magazine and Tracy Freedman (the fashion editor and fellow newly-wed). Always good to visit and see friends!

NYC engagement shoot with Allyson + Adam

October 26th, 2009

I was able to to squeeze in 2 engagement shoots while I was down in Manhattan last week shooting for The Knot, and I’m really excited to get this on the blog (and on facebook… don’t forget to add us!). I’m photographing Allyson + Adam’s wedding at Cipriani Wall St in March so I knew I needed to get their e-shoot in as soon as I could. Fortunately for us we scored a really cool location down by where they are getting married and only happened to come across one of the sickest sunsets in the city all Fall. Thinking I’m bluffing? Well check for yourself… I’ll start backwards and start with our sunset pics for this blog entry:
My favorite, and I just blasted it on our website too!

Pretty decent night for a walk on the Brooklyn Bridge in NYC right?
IMG_7341
Other than watching bikers whiz by at about 120 MPH you couldn’t have a much better experience than this
IMG_7372-2
One last one from this series because I love how much fun these two were having at the end of the session
IMG_7323
Anyway back to the streets and walking around New York City
IMG_7067
This bench was too prime to pass up
IMG_7176
Some more fun in the streets
IMG_7261-2
The South St. Seaport is a cool area for a shoot
IMG_7014
Because the sun sets on the other side of the island it starts to get darker in the alley ways much earlier than on the bridge, but I sort of liked the mood and feel to it (especially with the contrast to the bright and sunny bridge shots)

Thank you so much for coordinating your schedules with mine you two, and thanks for a great night in New York City!

Clark+Walker Studio is at the runway

October 20th, 2009

If we’ve been a little quieter than normal it’s because we’re down in NYC shooting all the bridal fashion shows for The Knot. It’s been crazy for me personally (it’s me Luke!) since I’ve been going almost non-stop since Friday morning seeing so many designers and shows that my head is spinning. It’s been an amazing experience, as it always is, visiting with some of my favorite magazine editors, seeing the latest from some of the best dress designers in the world, and having my personal space invaded by some of my closest photographer friends. To check out everything we have going on in real time please check out The Knot’s website right away to see our work:

LINKAGE TO THE GOODIES
Picture-1

You’ll notice that everything now has the Clark+Walker name on it and that’s because our studio now does all of the runway for The Knot. I’ve always worked closely with The Knot in the past but this season has been a whole new experience. It’s great to see our name on everything though and great to know that The Knot has that much trust and faith that we will deliver during some of their most important shoots. Shooting under those conditions, with that pressure, and the editor and chief sitting next to you whispering what she wants shots of…. hell going back to weddings after Market is usually like a vacation :) Check everything out real time on The Knot’s site, and also check out our facebook page for all sorts of updates and funny stories and thoughts. We’ll be doing a great blog recap at the end but The Knot has all our work up almost immediately afterwards to check out in the mean time.

congrats to Adinna + Adam

October 18th, 2009

I’m abolutely stoked to make this post of Adinna + Adam’s wedding! Every so often you find this perfect mix of an awesome couple, a fun crowd, perfect light, and a timeline that gives me a lot of opportunities to get some amazing photos. Bam! Let’s get right to the photos because this is a looong blog post:
I loved Adinna’s Badgley Mischka floral pattern shoes… I almost made her feel about about trekking through a vineyard with them (almost)
IMG_1814
I loved this spot right out back of the B&B where they were staying for some photos
IMG_2163
A group shot of Jager first thing in the morning never hurt anyone (actually…)
IMG_2114
The girls had no Jager, but they did have one of my favorite shots this year!
IMG_2359
I admit not everyone would be up for this. On the way driving out to the B&B I noticed this random vineyard off the road and asked them if I could screw up the schedule and make an impromptu stop here. I could tell getting off the schedule first thing in the day wasn’t going over so well with everyone involved (understandably so) but luckily people trusted me!
IMG_2311
I think it came out ok?
IMG_2226
As I said the whole crew was awesome all day long
IMG_2298
A couple more with some butta light
IMG_2276-2
IMG_2639
Whoops, this one is making a run for fav of the day too!
IMG_2596
We finally had to head over to the church for this whole ceremony thing (sometimes that gets in my way of good photos LOL)
IMG_2867
I think we had so much fun at that point they were both loose and emotional during the ceremony
IMG_2884
The one on the right had to be one of my favorites of the day (I’m allowed more than one damn it!) when Adinna glanced over toward her family during the ceremony
IMG_3024
IMG_2992
After the ceremony we had to change dresses of course
IMG_2893
The guys seemed pretty pumped about Adinna’s new dress?
IMG_3156
I love the wishing tree on the left here. Of course you see the table cards on the right? In the upper left hand corner? Yes you get an extended blog entry for sitting me with the guests :)

IMG_3213
Huge props on an absolutely fantastic wedding from your favorite wedding photographer down in NYC right now!

  1. Adinna:

Thank you Luke!!! Even apart from the “butta light” you really did a fantastic job of capturing the gorgeous colors as well as our emotions and personalities. The photos are even better than anything I could have imagined!! I suppose I may have to purchase an album after all because I don’t think my scrapbooking skills can quite do your work justice. I almost wish I could get married again just so I could have you photograph again. But I suppose for now I will see how things go with Adam :-)

  2. Adinna:

    Yay!

  3. Jeremiah:

Once again Luke, you did an amzing job!

  4. lynn mcmichen:

Adinna-these are great pictures! you are really pretty. by the way, Rhonda is my cousin. my son is getting married March,2011.

  5. Sue McDowell:

Adinna, you have grown into a lovely, gracious young lady. The shots of the wedding were absolutely stunning! Your gown was beautiful, but most of all your “Smile” said it all. May God richly bless you now and always. Love, Sue

Congrats Sarah + Michael

October 16th, 2009

There is nothing better than a cool sunny Sunday afternoon. I got the chance to spend it with Sarah + Michael who made me feel right at home with their warm and cheerful personalities. The light and slow breeze that day was the perfect for shooting, for we even had to sneak across the Albany CC green to steal a few shots with the sun shinning through. Alisha herself couldn’t resist these shots. So from the photos to the video..Sarah + Mike enjoy!

congrats to Abbey + Mike

October 15th, 2009

I am determined to get my end of the blog caught up before I take off to NYC for a week to shoot all the Fall bridal fashion shows for my partner in crime – The Knot.  This year we have the exclusive contract with them so I’ll be at even more shows and be worked even harder but we’ll have lots of cool things to share afterward.

First on my list is Abbey and Mike’s awesome wedding that I shot a couple weeks ago. Abbey has been a sweetheart throughout the planning process and someone I really enjoyed getting to know. Unfortunately on the way down the weather wasn’t looking like it was going to cooperate with the outdoor ceremony. Once things got started though the sun came pouring in and we were able to get some really beautiful stuff.
IMG_2626
Abbey was so cute during the getting ready… happy one minute then someone would make her cry and then happy, etc :)
IMG_2584
I guess the flower girl didn’t like having nothing in the box so why not fill it with some grass?
IMG_2906
I love this shot of Abbey
IMG_2888
You’d have never known it was grey all morning and early afternoon right?!
IMG_2949
I’m always on the lookout for these glances when shooting the ceremony
IMG_2911
IMG_0075
This little downtown-ish area was great for some portraits
IMG_0222
IMG_0247
We were a little delayed getting to the reception because of an accident on the thruway, but I was really impressed with how calm everyone was. Once we got to the reception people were ready to let loose though!

Thanks again for having me you two!!
