We don’t do many bridal shows here at Clark+Walker, not that we have anything against them but the majority of the options out t here don’t really fit what we are trying to accomplish. We aim to try and establish a rapport with couples, get to know them, and hopefully by the time the wedding comes around we are like one of the guests showing up at the wedding. We really value that couture experience and we know it’s one of our selling points. That is all but lost in an event like a traditional bridal show with hundreds of people running around in a hectic environment trying to meet as many people as possible.
With that said though, I do think there are shows out there that serve a purpose and can fit alongside our brand. We are doing a show this weekend in the Capital Region at the Glen Sanders Mansion that we feel will have a lot of our type of brides in attendance. We’re excited about the show, but since we don’t do many we had to come up with some ideas on how we wanted to attack this. Just setting up a table and putting our logo on it wouldn’t fly with us, that goes back to the original point of just blending into the masses. So we decided to had to create something fun and interesting, something that would encourage people to interact with us and spend some time visiting and viewing our products. So what we decided to do is to have a scratch off card promotion. This plays off of the + sign, like we usually do, and gives people the chance to either get a discount up to a couple hundred dollars or to get an entire video package for free. Here is what the cards look like:

The scratch areas will be on either side of the plus sign:

If someone wins a discount of, say, $100 then it will scratch off to say $100 + discount. If they don’t win then it will say something like “fun + fashionable” or similar adjectives that describe us.

Our main goal with this promotion is to encourage people to talk about us, build some excitement about our company, and for people to know that we don’t like to do things in a boring way. It’s about fun and excitement in our photography and our videos… so why not with everything else as well?

You may recall a few posts back where Luke mentioned a couple that came to our lovely frozen tundra of a town, Troy, NY to brave the cold for an engagement shoot. But I’m not sure “cold” quite captures what that day was like.
Allow me to attempt to “crystalize” it for you:
. Polar
. Arctic
. Numbing
. Glacial
And ironically this generates the acronym PANG. And we all know what PANG is, right? Yeah, neither do I. I digress.
In any event, it really was cold! And all the while I had it in my mind that this was going to be a terribly challenging shoot with the elements as they were. Instead, we ended up with a fabulous couple that accepted nothing but the best from Clark + Walker, and we gave it to ‘em! It also helped that they make such a great looking couple that you can’t help but feel all warm and fuzzy when you see them together!
I implore you to see if you can tell just how cold it is by checking out this video of Brigid+Steve.
I bet ya can’t even tell, cause they’re just that good.

One of the first tasks I did right after the new year was to re-organize how our studio uses Facebook. All 4 of us currently use FB, a lot, but we all have personal accounts. I post all of my personal things on my FB account and enjoy sharing pictures of our house, things we do with Lillie, travel, sports, etc. Most of you reading this probably use it the same way. In addition though I also link our blog entries, post (and tag) my latest wedding photography, and talk about things with our business. Alisha has the same set up with her FB account as this is just the way we did it when we had separate businesses (which is funny because it already feels like ages ago). Dawn+John also have their own personal FB accounts too.
The problem with the setup above is that there was no singular place on Facebook to find all of our photos, our videos, and most importantly to find one cohesive voice for everything that is Clark+Walker Studio. So we’ve decided to re-organize how we utilize Facebook. You may friend us still of course, but all of our personal profiles will be mostly used for our personal lives (which we still want to share with many of you because you are friends!). However everything business, from all 4 of us, will now go to our Clark+Walker Facebook Page.

Go ahead and add yourself as a fan if you’d like to see all of our latest photos, our videos, some off-the-hip short videos that we will do in studio, some facebook only promos we will be offering, as well as quirky comments and thoughts that we don’t post on the blog.
Thanks for checking us out on FB!
- Luke
